Four Midlands aerospace companies have won new SC21 awards.

Accrofab and JJ Churchill all received their first bronze awards for outstanding quality and delivery performance. AAR International and Graves Aircraft Components received bronze for a second time after maintaining their high levels of performance.

The awards were made at a recent national SC21 task force event held in Belfast.

SC21 (Supply Chains for the 21st Century) is the UK aerospace industry's supply chain performance improvement programme. Companies deploy SC21 for many reasons, with increased competitiveness, leaner production and reduced overheads all motivating factors, but for those companies achieving world class quality and delivery performance there is the added differentiator of industry recognition with an SC21 award.

Nick Willers, director at Derby-based Accrofab said:

"We’re delighted to receive this award. Our class leading performance has been recognised by our peers and reflects the tremendous efforts of the Accrofab team. SC21 engagement helped tie our business improvement activities into a company-wide plan, with all staff receiving training to NVQ L2 in BIT and team leaders to NVQ L3.

"We're really grateful for the help and support we have received from Tim Holmes and the MAA during the process. The encouragement Tim provided at the start helped us to develop a momentum that has grown steadily. We have our eyes on the Silver Award next".
