MAA recognised as the "gold standard" of regional industry cluster management

Independent report commissioned by West Midlands Combined Authority

It's always encouraging when independent research reinforces the high-standards you aspire to.

A new evaluation, commissioned by the West Midlands Combined Authority and researched by Glenn Athey of Mylocaleconomy, looks at the role industry cluster organisations play in driving economic growth across the region.

Throughout the report, the Midlands Aerospace Alliance is referenced as the "gold-standard model" of business-led cluster organisations. It highlights the MAA's role in bringing together industry, academia and regional partners, supporting supply chain development, encouraging innovation and helping Midlands aerospace businesses grow both nationally and internationally.

While the report focuses on the MAA as an organisation, we see it as a reflection of the wider Midlands aerospace community. Everything the Alliance has achieved over the past 20 years has been made possible by the commitment of our members, Board, partners and stakeholders, who continue to share knowledge, collaborate and work towards strengthening the region's aerospace sector.

As a new government seems like to devolve increasing powers to regions, it's encouraging to see the MAA's collaborative, business-led approach to growing dynamic regional clusters highlighted as a mature model that has developed over time and continues to evolve.

Thank you to the West Midlands Combined Authority, Glenn Athey and everyone who contributed to the evaluation.
