CAA Chair, Sir Stephen Hillier touring Collins Aerospace
We were pleased to recently work with the UK Civil Aviation Authority to set up a roundtable discussion with smaller aerospace manufacturers and regional cluster bodies as part of a recent visit by the organisation to Collins Aerospace’s actuation systems facility in Wolverhampton.
Throughout the event with CAA Chair, Sir Stephen Hillier, we had a very interesting exchange of ideas on the challenges facing the aerospace industry and how we can work together to address them.
In addition, we discussed the recovery after the pandemic and bringing talent and skills into the sector to support continued growth and innovation.
It’s important that supply chain companies have the opportunity to communicate their priorities and challenges to influential aviation and aerospace stakeholders. Enabling this is a big part of our role at the MAA.
On hearing about the MAA's Drone Ready Cities and FFLIP projects, Sir Stephen praised the work to support safe Advanced Air Mobility in the UK. This work will enable significant transformations to how goods, services and transport are delivered across the country.
Sir Stephen also toured Collins Aerospace’s facilities and saw the cutting-edge SMARTBench systems, designed to train future engineers, and had the opportunity to meet with early careers team members.
We are grateful to Sir Stephen and the CAA for joining us in the Midlands, meeting with supply chain companies, and for the sincere interest in our growing aerospace cluster.
