22 - 24 October
Join us to meet Italian aerospace customers at Aerospace & Defense Meetings Torino, October 2013
The Midlands Aerospace Alliance and UK Trade & Investment’s Italian aerospace experts are taking a high-quality group of UK aerospace suppliers to Aerospace & Defense Meetings Torino 22-24 October 2013. The same team recently worked with Italian aerospace clusters to run a very successful trade mission for ten Midlands suppliers to meet five major Italian aerospace customers. We will be building on the superb contacts made then – to benefit all UK suppliers.
What is Aerospace & Defense Meetings Torino?
This is the only big event for buyers and suppliers to meet which is targeted at Italy, Europe’s fourth biggest aerospace industry. It is based on a program of pre-arranged meetings and is a cross between a trade show and a traditional meet-the-buyer event. So international and Italian buyers come to meet you – meetings you have pre-arranged with the Meetings organisers -- at your own booth where you can present your company to best effect alongside other UK companies. It is similar to the International Suppliers Centre at the ILA Berlin airshow that worked really well for the MAA/UKTI-led group in 2012. And it is organised by the same professionals from BCI Aerospace who run the longstanding Aeromart meetings held in Toulouse.
How does it work?
Over two days (23rd, 24th) all participating companies hold a series of pre-programmed meetings with targeted companies. For big players and primes this is a unique occasion to optimise time spent seeking new suppliers and solutions -- this is what attracts them. For suppliers it is an excellent chance to develop new business with customers from one of the world’s biggest aerospace industries as well as other international buyers – all in a structured format.

Your peers value our expert work on Italian aerospace and are benefiting from it
This is one of a number of activities the MAA and UKTI have undertaken since 2010 to build links between Italian and UK aerospace. Here is the UK feedback from our mission to meet Italian aerospace customers and clusters, May 2013:
- Superb opportunities given to you as a supplier to meet with key decision makers in the nominated companies. As an SME, it would be virtually impossible to arrange this on your own.
- The customer list was for our company very good, including Alenia Aermacchi, Mictrotecnica and Secondo Mona. All Italian companies were keen to hold specific 1:1 meetings.
- A very well organised mission. The companies met were very relevant to our business strategy.
- From a strategic point of view, the mission was 100% well organised: selection of companies visited very good, right number of UK participants, good support from the clusters, good networking opportunities (ie British consul, networking dinner).
- UKTI and the MAA had selected a group of highly regarded companies in the Italian aerospace cluster. This gave us, as a supplier, our best possible in-road to do business with Italy.
- I was surprised how well the MAA and UKTI managed to get the interest of companies such as Avio or Agusta, and fit all these visits into 3 days.
- I do want to praise the overall organisation – excellent.
- The organisation by MAA & UKTI, both from selection of visits and practical organisation was very good. The quality of information gained from the visits and the opportunity for meetings to such companies would be difficult to achieve independently.
- Everywhere we visited we were welcomed with open arms and at levels within the businesses that we would not normally be able to access.
- Access to senior procurement managers would not have been possible on our own.
