Alan Dunbar elected as new Chair of the MAA Board
We’re delighted to announce that Alan Dunbar, Vice-President of Business Development, Mettis Group, has been elected as the new Chair of the MAA Board of Directors.
Alan is a highly-regarded, senior aerospace leader with a diverse career in the industry spanning thyssenkrupp Aerospace, Bromford Group, GKN and more.
Alan served as the Chair of the MAA’s Business Development Working Group for several years during which they have established new ways to create even more value for members, provide opportunities to collaborate, network and succeed together.
When the MAA developed its Five Point Plan for rescuing and recovering the aerospace industry, early in the pandemic, diversification and new business development approaches were identified as critical for the supply chain and the Business Development working group, in tandem with the MAA’s other working groups, worked hard to bring new business opportunities to the supply chain as well as promoting the advanced capabilities of the Midlands aerospace cluster.
The board’s focus, during Alan’s tenure, will continue to be on enabling aerospace’s successful emergence from the crisis, with an ongoing commitment to sustainability, integrity, innovation and collaboration.
“The imminent industry ‘ramp up’ will bring a host of new challenges for the supply chain,” says Alan. “Members will again look to the MAA for support as well as opportunities to learn, share and collaborate, potentially even more so than during the pandemic. Most have faced the challenge of scaling down operations in line with demand, but a greater difficulty can often be successful regrowth. At the MAA, we’re committed to helping in every way we can and it’s a privilege to be elected by our directors as Chair of the MAA Board during one of the most pivotal times in aviation history.”
