Go-ahead for Meggitt’s plans for aircraft braking centre

Test centre to expand

The go-ahead has been granted for aerospace and defence engineering group Meggitt to extend its aircraft braking systems development base in Birmingham.

The company has secured permission from Birmingham City Council for the extension as well as a new storage unit at the site in Wood Lane.

Currently, the building is used as a testing facility for the global engineering group and is operated by Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems. The new space will be used for additional testing equipment and storage of aircraft tyres.

The current testing centre has 11,883 sq ft of gross external space and will increase now to 17,480 sq ft.

The storage unit will have 2,142 sq ft of gross external space.
