The opportunity for Midlands technology in India

India’s public and private aerospace sectors are buoyant. The Indian economy and its aerospace and defence sectors are growing at an unprecedented rate.

  • HAL’s partners and suppliers are looking for UK technology partners to help bolster the India aerospace supply chain in order to build the capacity and capability to take on offset work and expansion.
  • India is identified as a low cost sourcing destination for precision machined parts and assemblies. The growth in world aerospace requirements for low-cost manufacturing is predicted to result in Indian participation in aerospace growing globally from USD 20 million in 2007 to over USD 2 billion by 2015.
  • India is also predicted to grow its engineering services sector to USD 5 billion in the same period.
